FAQs

  • The broad answer is: however you like, but to kick things off, the general rule for a salad dressing/vinaigrette is one part Little Goose Dressing Base to two parts olive oil (or any other oil you prefer for salads). Give it a good whisk/shake and you’ll see a creamy dressing emerge which you can then add to any salad you like!

To create a marinade for meat you can use the same proportions. To create a glaze for roasted veg (try it with roasted broccoli OMG), throw a spoonful of Little Goose and a knob of butter into the hot pan and toss. Yuuuuum.

  • Our 300ml jar equates to about 18 serves and our 190ml jar delivers about 10 serves.

  • All our ingredients are entirely plant based. We are not vegans ourselves, but it was pretty easy to swap out honey for agave!

  • The family behind Little Goose is made up of many coeliacs so being gluten free was never a question! Our product lab tested to a “gluten not detectable” degree.

  • Yep, indeed it is!

  • We use organic guar gum, which is made by grinding the seeds of guar beans. It keeps things nice and tidy in the jar!

    • For a gorgeous salad dressing, take one spoonful of our base and add to a bowl, then add two spoonfuls of your favourite olive oil (or another oil suitable for salads, like grapeseed or avocado). Whisk away until a creamy dressing appears. Check the seasoning and toss it through your salad!

    • Other ways to use our delicious base include adding it along with a spoon of butter to a hot pan of roasted veg or a just cooked steak. Mmmm…..Or even just spread it thinly on a salad sandwich for a zingy hit.

  • Our Classic Shallot & Sherry Vinegar salad dressing base keeps in  your pantry for six months and, once opened, can live in your fridge for 3 weeks (but most of our customers just use their eyes and nose to detect any issues well past that time). Remember you can always add the product (unmixed with oil) to an ice cube tray and pop it in the freezer - perfect portions!

  • You do you! You can either use it on its own or play around with other fats (butter, mayo, creme fraiche etc). Let us know what delicious combos you come up with!

  • Good question! A number of things set us apart.

We are the only salad dressing product (anywhere) that is a flavour base, rather than a static, “slop it on” dressing (although we are just as convenient). Why is this important? Well, the low quality oils and substandard ingredients filling the bottles of standard salad dressings from the supermarket are generally the reasons a lot of home cooks would prefer to go to the trouble of making their own dressing from scratch. We’ve eliminated the need for those nasties and our product is just as good as homemade. This also allows you to add your preferred oil and even play around with the product, using it as a springboard for your own flavour combinations!

Also, we are a female led business, with products made locally and in small batches, lovingly crafted to exacting standards.

  • We are proud that our product has only 0.6g of sugar in every serve. That’s less than a quarter of most of the equivalent flavoured standard dressings on the supermarket shelves.

  • Like most glass jars, our jars are recyclable and reusable and the metal lids are also reusable and recyclable (check your local council). We ship using Sendle, a certified B-Corp freight company and use sustainable boxes, wraps, tapes and labels wherever possible!

  • Yessiree there are! We are hoping to launch two more flavours in early 2025 so stay tuned!

  • We are working to build our community of stockists (see current list here) and we are a regular on the Melbourne Farmers’ Market circuit (mfm.com.au). You can always buy online!

  • What an eagle eye you have! We started life in 2024 with the 300ml jar and thought our product would exclusively be a salad dressing product. However, whenever we talked to our customers, we would always hear about the different ways they used Little Goose, so when we launched the smaller jar we decided to do away with the word “Salad” and go with the more inclusive “Dressing Base”. We are little, so we are flexible! We will be phasing out the old packaging for the 300ml jar as time goes on to reflect the change (no wastage here!).
